Starting next week, RCMP officers across Canada will begin using body-worn cameras, with over 10,000 expected to be deployed within 12 to 18 months. The cameras, worn on officers’ chests, will flash red when recording, providing an objective record of interactions. The RCMP clarifies that these cameras won’t be used for constant surveillance, nor in private settings like washrooms, hospitals, or during body searches.Â
