The Alberta government is investing over $1.5 million to help Indigenous students train for careers in residential construction. The funding will support the Trade Winds to Success program, which offers a mix of classroom learning and hands-on training.Â
Students will build eco-smart homes for Indigenous communities and earn credits toward a carpentry apprenticeship. Over the next three years, the program aims to enroll 156 students, addressing labour needs and empowering Indigenous communities.Â
