Six new transition beds have opened at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre to provide temporary care for patients awaiting placement in a continuing care facility.
Alberta Health Services says the beds will improve patient flow in hospitals across the region, reducing hospital stays and freeing up acute care beds. MLA Scott Cyr called it a valuable investment in local healthcare.
The beds are staffed 24/7 by medical professionals to support patients who no longer need acute care but aren’t ready to go home.Â
