The provincial government and the United Nurses of Alberta have reached a tentative contract agreement covering 33-thousand registered nurses.
The union says the four-year deal sees a major improvement in wages, including an immediate hike of 15 per cent.
It adds there are also improvements to address staffing shortages, rural health care, and job security, as the government revamps the health care delivery system.
Finance Minister Nate Horton says the agreement recognizes the hard work and dedication of Alberta’s nurses, and the value they bring to the health care system.
