You could pay less at the pump as early as April 1st – the big takeaway from a newly released analysis into the slashing of the consumer portion of the federal carbon tax.
A Desjardins Economics report suggests provinces under the federal model, including Alberta, could see savings of as much as 18 cents a litre on gasoline as soon as the levy is no longer being collected.
Bigger picture, analysts say the move could push inflation as much as 0.7 per cent lower than expected had the consumer carbon levy been left in place.
