Province of Alberta to spend thousands to upgrade its wildfire monitoring system

The provincial government plans to spend 900-thousand dollars to upgrade its wildfire monitoring system.

The money will be used to upgrade and expand its system of weather monitoring stations.

There are currently 150 around Alberta, which measure local conditions like humidity, temperature, wind, precipitation, and snow pack……important information for assessing the level of threat from wildfires.

There are currently 65 burning in the province….down from 115 at this time last year.
