The first few weeks of the Powerline Baseball League season are in the books and some familiar faces lead the standings. The defending champion Rosalind Athletics have jumped out to a 3-0 start, followed closely by Armena and Battle River who sport 2-1 records. The Vegreville Blue Jays are 1-1 after missing several games due to wet weather. The team is coming off a 3-2 loss to the Rivals in a walk-off earlier this week. Longtime catcher Stephen Hrabec says the team may be getting a bit older but they still have championship aspirations.
While the Jays are a veteran-heavy team, they are always looking for some new blood. Hrabec says they’d love to have some younger players join their ranks and help to keep the team going for years to come.
The Jays return to action on Tuesday when they welcome the Armena Royals to town. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm.
