The Province of Alberta’s annual Seniors’ Week will take place this year from June 3rd to June 9th. The event has been officially recognized by the provincial government since 1986, inspired by Albertan Alice Modin and her campaign to start a Senior’s Day in Strathcona County, paving the way for the annual event celebrated today. A number of municipalities, towns, First Nations, and Métis Settlements have officially acknowledged Senior’s Week in 2024 to show their appreciation and support for Alberta’s seniors. Various activities and celebratory events will take place throughout the week, including recreation activities hosted by the Town of Vegreville, a roast beef supper at the Town of Viking Seniors’ Centre, and an official provincial launch of the week hosted by the government of Alberta and the Town of Banff on June 3rd.
