The Alberta Health Services Mobile Mammography Test Screening Program is set to make its way to Vegreville this month. Testing will take place on the east side of St. Joseph’s Hospital from June 21st to June 29th. The AHS maintains that screening mammograms are the best way to detect breast cancer early, when treatment may be the most effective. While women of all ages are encouraged to book a mammogram screening if they wish, the AHS advises that women between the ages 45 and 74 book an appointment to be screened every two years, as breast cancer screening is proven to have the most benefit within this
age group. Alberta Health Services encourages those concerned about having an increased risk of breast cancer to speak to their health care provider. To book an appointment for the Mobile Mammography Test Screening Program, please call 1-800-667-0604. Appointments for this program are required.
