Tragic Canada Day Parade Accident In La Crete Claims Life Of 45-Year-Old Man

Mounties and EMS were called to a tragic incident on Canada Day in northern Alberta.

Fort Vermilion RCMP and emergency medical services responded to an accident on the Canada Day parade route in the hamlet of La Crete just after 11:40am on Monday, July 1st.

Police say it was determined a man, who was part of the parade, fell off the equipment he was throwing candy from and sustained fatal injuries.

According to Fort Vermilion RCMP, the man has been identified as a 45 year old resident of MacKenzie County.

La Crete is located about 701 kilometers north of Edmonton and approximately 57 kilometers southeast of High Level.

RCMP pass along their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
