Blue Jays Clinch Playoff Spot With Win Over Defending Champs

The Vegreville Blue Jays are headed back to the postseason after a big win in Tuesday’s Powerline Baseball League action. The Jays used a six-run third running to power past the defending champion Rosalind Athletics 8-2. Tag Weder had a big night for the boys in blue, hitting a homerun and closing things down on the hill with a solid seventh inning. Weder says
it was a good to get back in a groove on the mound after not seeing pitching action for awhile.

The Jays got contributions up and down the lineup in the victory, including from veteran Lane Pipke who found himself on base three times. He says it was great to see everyone getting in on the offense.

The win puts Vegreville’s record at 7-4 on the year. They close out the regular season next Tuesday when they play host to the Tofield Braves.
