The Vegreville Blue Jays wrap up the regular season in the Powerline Baseball League this evening. The Birds play host to the Tofield Braves this evening after punching their ticket to the playoffs last week with a win over Rosalind. After that victory, veteran Lane Pipke was pleased to see the team put a complete effort on the field.
Tag Weder had a big game in the win over Rosalind, hitting a homerun and striking out three straight hitters to close things out. The versatile speedster says with playoffs looming, they can’t look past Tofield tonight.
The Blue Jays took the only other meeting of the season between these two teams, beating Tofield 20-5 last month. The Birds are looking for a bounce back after last year’s playoffs saw the team swept in the first round after finishing in first place. First pitch between the Jays and Braves goes at 7:00 pm tonight at Riverview Ball Diamond.
