Blue Jays Struggles Against Rivals Continues In Playoff Opener

The Powerline Baseball League playoffs got underway last night and for the Vegreville Blue Jays, it was a tough outing against a team that has seemingly had their number this season. After going 0-3 against the Rivals this year, it was more of the same on Tuesday. Some early errors proved costly and the offence couldn’t right the ship as the Birds fell 9-2 in game one of a best-of-three semi-final series. With the loss, the Jays are now 0-4 against the Rivals despite an 8-1 record against the rest of the league. Veteran Randall Ziegler says they’re a team that takes advantage of every  mistake.

The Jays backs will be against the wall when they travel to Daysland for game two tomorrow night. Catcher Stephen Hrabec says they know what they have to do to be successful.

If the Jays can pull off a victory Thursday night, the do-or-die game three would be back in Vegreville next Tuesday.
