1930 … The world’s first vehicular underwater tunnel from one country to another opens to traffic between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan. Today, the 1.6-kilometre-long Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, recognized as one of the great engineering wonders of the world, is still the only international underwater-tunnel for automobiles.
