Town Of Smoky Lake Issues Fire Ban Amid Current Heat Wave Conditions

Like many other areas across the province, the Town of Smoky Lake has once again issued a fire ban due to the extreme fire hazard conditions brought on by the current heat wave.

The ban will remain in effect until further notice, and means that there are absolutely no outdoor fires permitted at this time. This includes open fires, campfires, brush piles, and burning barrels. The discharge of fireworks is also prohibited during the ban. Gas fueled barbeques with lids and liquid fueled camping stoves will be allowed.

The fire ban will remain in place until hazardous conditions improve significantly.

The Town of Smoky Lake urges everyone to use extreme caution when working or driving in dry, grassy areas, and to be mindful of hot exhaust and keep vehicles clean and free of debris as this can fall off and starts fires.

For more information about this fire ban, please contact the Town of Smoky Lake Office at 780-656-3674. To keep up to date on current fire bans in your area, please visit www.albertafirebans.ca.
