Every year, one driver from the Alberta Professional Chuckwagon and Chariot Association is awarded the Greg Smith Most Sportsman Like Memorial Belt Buckle. The recipient of the Buckle is determined by vote by other drivers within the Association, who are asked to consider another driver who exemplifies kindness both on and off the track, offers assistance to others in times of need, and maintains their composure when competing against other teams. This year’s Buckle has been awarded to the Vegreville Agricultural Society Chuckwagon Chairman and Driver Shane Cartier. Cartier says that he is incredibly honoured to receive the award, as he is close to the Smith family.
Cartier is now gearing up to compete in the Vegreville Country Fair in August. He adds that no matter where he goes, he will always love coming home to Vegreville.
The Vegreville Country Fair is set to take place August 7th to 11th at the Vegreville Agricultural Society Grounds.
