Residents Of Jasper Return To Town To Assess Damage

Residents of Jasper were allowed to return for a brief visit yesterday to assess wildfire damage that destroyed about one-third of the town last month. Premier Danielle Smith reported “incredible progress” in restoring essential services like water, electricity, and gas, but a return date for residents is still uncertain. Nearly 25,000 people, including both residents and visitors, were evacuated due to the wildfire.
