A solid start in Sunday’s Dash For Cash put Riley Braaten in front early and despite a late charge from Allan Bengston, Braaten held him off to claim the heat and $1000. Braaten’s time of 66.77 was also the fastest time recorded on the weekend and the only one under 67 seconds. The win also boosted Braaten to the aggregate title, finishing five days of racing in a combined time of 344.77. That was good enough to edge out Bengston who finished with a 346.53.
Sunday’s races also featured a tribute to Albert Buckingham. The longtime veteran announced his retirement prior to the day’s run and received a send-off from his fellow drivers following a win in his final heat. Next up for the APCCA is a stop in Westlock next weekend. They’ll end the 2024 season with stops in Sundre, Patricia and Millarville.
