An Estimated $280 Million In Damages In Jasper Due To Wildfire

Preliminary reports indicate that last month’s wildfires in the Town of Jasper caused over $280 million in property damage. The fires destroyed nearly 360 structures, including 800 housing units. This also means a loss of more than $2 million in annual property tax revenue for the town. Jasper’s 5,000 residents are expected to start returning on Friday as recovery efforts continue.
