Both of Canada’s major railways have stopped accepting certain shipments, as the threat of a complete rail shutdown draws closer.
Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Kansas City are threatening to lock out more than nine-thousand members of the Teamsters Union as of Thursday, unless a new contract agreement is reached.
The union has responded with a strike notice.
Experts say the two railways transport about one-billion dollars worth of goods per day…..and a stoppage of any longer than a few days would seriously affect Canada’s supply chain.
The union says company demands over work scheduling, crew fatigue, and rail safety are the biggest stumbling blocks.
