Transport Canada is investigating following a fatal plane crash near the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan.
At about 10am on Wednesday, Kitscoty RCMP received notification that a personal aircraft had crashed shortly after takeoff.
EMS and Fire along with Kitscoty RCMP and RCMP from the Maidstone detachment in Saskatchewan attended to locate the aircraft.
The pilot and lone occupant of the aircraft was declared deceased at the scene. He was identified as a 46-year-old man from Rivercourse, Alberta.
Rivercourse is located just over 30 kilometers south of Lloydminster.
Mounties are extending their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
