Officials at Jasper National Park say several trails and day use areas are reopening today.
But they warn that much of the park, including overnight camping, remains closed, and entering them is unlawful, and dangerous.
Officials also note that there are limited accommodations and services in Jasper, and visitors should check what’s available before they leave home.
In the meantime, the provincial government has set up a 12-member cabinet committee to work with the Jasper recovery task force.
The biggest need right now is temporary housing for residents and workers who have lost their homes.
