This summer, the City of Cold Lake kicked off construction for a new wastewater treatment plant, set to be up and running by fall 2025. The $33 million project, funded in part by an $8.76 million grant from Alberta Transportation, will replace the old lagoon system with cutting-edge technology like Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors. This means cleaner water and less impact on the Beaver River. The upgrade will also support future growth, with minimal disruption to current services during construction. The project is a part of the City’s ongoing efforts to achieve more environmental protections and sustainability.
