Starting this week, federal civil servants have to return to the office at least three days a week, under new rules the government says will strengthen collaboration, and increase opportunities for learning and sharing.
The increase from two days a week to three is not going down well with the unions, which have launched unfair labour practice complaints and a court challenge.
They say if the situation can’t be solved, they’ll make it a centrepiece of their next contract negotiations, which begin next year.
