The Community Engagement & Economic Development Manager for the Town of Vegreville has been honoured by the Economic Developers of Alberta.
Jamieson Brown was the recipient of the Emerging Talent in Economic Development Award during last week’s EDA Xperience 2024 Leaders’ Summit & Conference in Kananaskis.
Brown thanks his colleagues at the Town of Vegreville for the work they did in putting his name forward for the award and says he was stunned to receive it.
Brown says the Economic Developers of Alberta is an organization that represents Economic Development Officers (EDOs) across the province and offers a ton of different training for people who are relatively new to the industry, but they also do a lot of work as a whole to promote Alberta and promote economic development.
At the conference, he says it was a mixture of EDOs and elected officials that had an opportunity to learn from people who are at the forefront of investment in Alberta.
He says this is the 50th anniversary for the Economic Developers of Alberta and it was tremendous opportunity to be there and to network with some of these industry partners, and partners at both the provincial and federal level as well.
Brown thanks Mayor Tim MacPhee and the members of council for their strong support of Economic Development in Vegreville. Brown would also like to give special recognition to his team of Layne Quickstad, who is a tremendous asset when it comes to communications and marketing, and Michelle Gladys, who is overseeing the tourism portfolio for the Town of Vegreville, and this award is certainly as much theirs as it is his.
