Hail Storm In Calgary Last Month Second Most Expensive Natural Disaster in Canadian History

A hail storm in Calgary last month was the second most expensive natural disaster in Canadian history. The Insurance Bureau of Canada says theĀ  August 5th storm compiled insured losses of 2.8 billion dollars after golf ball-sized hail, strong winds, and heavy rain directly impacted around 20 per cent of all homes in the city. Despite the eyewatering total on potential cost, it still comes in well behind the costliest disaster on record, the $4.5 billion paid out in the fallout of the 2016 wildfires in Fort McMurray.
