Targeted Triple Homicide, No Concern For Public Safety: RCMP

“There is no immediate concern for public safety,” says Inspector Brian Nicholl, following a “targeted” triple homicide in Lloydminster.

The head of the Lloydminster detachment says on Wednesday, Sep. 11, officers were called to a well-being check at a home near 50 Street and 47 Avenue on the Saskatchewan side of the city at about 5:51 p.m.

“Upon entering the residence, members located three deceased individuals. At this time we will not be releasing or confirming the identities,” says Nicholl, who is expressing his condolences on behalf of the detachment adding, “It is a profound loss of life.”

Nicholl says the public will continue to see a large police presence in the area of the murders as Alberta Major Crimes and Saskatchewan officers continue to investigate.

“This is a targeted, isolated incident,” says Nicholl, who is asking anyone with information about this crime may contact the police at 780-808-8400 or 911. Also, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

As the investigation is ongoing, Nicholl adds, “At this time, it does not appear to be a random act. The general public – if they are not involved in this type of activity – and I’m not saying that these were criminals at all – but generally, when it’s targeted, it’s the reason. What that reason is – that’s what the investigation has to determine.”
