A fire earlier this month near Highway 28 and Millennium Trail in Cold Lake is believed to be connected to a homeless camp.
RCMP responded to the fire on September 4, which started from a campfire and spread to nearby trees. No one was found when police arrived.
City CAO Kevin Nagoya said there has been an increase in fire-related calls linked to homeless camps, with 29 such calls this year. The City is working to clear these camps and offer shelter options, while emergency services stay prepared to handle these situations.
