The Calgary Canucks have not only stolen home ice advantage in the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s championship series, but they have swept the first two games of the best of seven match up with the Whitecourt Wolverines.
The Canucks headed to Whitecourt and won Game 1 of the Inter Pipeline Cup Finals on Friday 5-1 over the Wolverines. Calgary also captured Game 2 at JDA Place by topping the Wolverines 5-2 on Saturday.
Sunday and Monday are off days for the series. It will shift to the Ken Bracko Arena at the Max Bell Centre in Calgary for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
Calgary’s last appearance in the AJHL Finals was in 1999, and that was also the last time the Canucks won the league championship.
