The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has cleared two RCMP officers involved in a fatal shooting on Cold Lake First Nations in February 2023.
The report, released Thursday, says officers acted reasonably when they shot a man who had pointed a rifle at them during a standoff.
Police had responded to a domestic dispute where a woman and her two children had fled. The man, intoxicated and armed, ignored police commands before officers fired.
A later search found his gun was unloaded, but ASIRT says officers had no way of knowing.
