Beaumont Resident Arrested By Fort Saskatchewan RCMP For Extreme Speeding Violation

A 20 year old man from Beaumont was arrested over the weekend by Fort Saskatchewan RCMP for traveling at an incredibly high rate of speed.

Mounties say it happened at about 7:30pm on Sunday, June 23rd when a Mitsubishi Lancer was observed on Highway 21 and Township Road 542, near Fort Saskatchewan.

According to police, a radar speed measuring device was used to calculate the vehicle’s speed as 189 kilometers per hour in a posted 100km/hr zone.

The driver was arrested and released via summons with an upcoming court date set for next month (July) in the Alberta Court of Justice.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP remind motorists to obey the posted speed limits and to call 911 to report dangerous driving in progress.
