The Mannville, Minburn, and Innisfree Family and Community Support Services are set to host two Home Alone Safety Courses next month. The courses are aimed at children aged 10 and older, with the goal of imparting the knowledge that will help them recognize safe and unsafe practices while staying at home for short periods of time. Children aged 7 and older may also take part in the courses if they plan to attend with a sibling.
Topics covered during the program will be comfort and confidence, rights and responsibilities, basic first aid, and fire and appliance safety.
Those interested in registering for the course may choose to attend on August 1st from 9:15am to 11:30am, or August 6th from 2pm to 4:15pm. Cost per child to register for the course is $10, and the fee will include a workbook that may be brought home, as well as refreshments. Pre-registration for this course is required and must be completed by July 25th by calling 780-763-3005.
The courses will take place at the Mannville Elks Hall, and children who complete the program will be awarded with a certificate of completion provided by Child Safe Canada. For more information, please visit the Mannville, Minburn, and Innisfree Family and Community Support Services Facebook page.
