Progress Made In The Fight To Quell Wildfire In The Town Of Jasper

Progress is being made in the fight to extinguish the wildfire that has devastated Jasper National Park and the Town of Jasper, say Parks Canada officials. In an update on Sunday night, the Parks official X account stated that crews remain busy on several fronts, with the Canadian Armed Forces targeting spot fires on the northwest side of the Town.

While temperatures are expected to sit around the mid-20s with dry conditions, Park officials say that it is crucial to continue making progress at this time.

Parks Canada estimates that 30 percent of the buildings in Jasper have been damaged by the wildfire. The fire remains out-of-control within the Park and could still be burning months from now, according to officials.
