City of Cold Lake To Increase Safety Measures After Cyber Attack

In response to recent security concerns, the City of Cold Lake is increasing safety measures at the Cold Lake Energy Centre. CAO Kevin Nagoya noted that while these changes are not directly linked to a reported assault from a June council meeting, the city is implementing broader security enhancements. This includes improving visibility at the facility, adding uniformed security at city events, and collaborating with external security experts. Since April 2024, joint patrols by the City, Northern Lights School Division, and Portage College have been in place. Nagoya stressed that while these measures aim to improve safety, no security system can be foolproof.
