Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy Asks For Aid From Allies

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says his country’s offensive into Russia’s Kursk region is designed to create a buffer zone to reduce attacks on Ukrainian territory. 

The attack, launched August 6th from northeast Ukraine, has so far occupied more than one-thousand square kilometres of Russian territory, according to the Ukrainian military command. 

Zelensky is again asking allies to lift any remaining restrictions on using Western weapons to attack targets deeper in Russia. 

He says, with that obstacle removed, his forces could deprive Russia of an ability to advance.
