Over the weekend, the Canada Industrial Relations Board decided to order operations to resume at Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway and continue at Canadian National Railway.
Premier Danielle Smith and government of Alberta representatives including the province’s Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors, Devin Dreeshen, issued a joint statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, Alberta’s government is pleased that the CIRB ordered operations to resume at CPKC and continue at CN while the disputes proceed to binding arbitration.
Going forward, Alberta’s government encourages the federal government to continue to respond quickly to labour disputes that have the potential to create widespread damage to Canadians, this country’s economy, and its reputation as a reliable trading partner.
