Vegreville Town Council is considering the idea of a possible all female hockey league. The discussion was brought up at the regular Council meeting on Monday evening, with a letter expressing interest in using Vegreville’s facilities for the league in the spring of 2025. Mayor Tim MacPhee says that while there are still many details to discuss, an all female hockey league could be greatly beneficial to the Town.
MacPhee goes on to say that to extend the use of the ice further into the spring season would be expensive, and that plans will need to be in place to off-set these costs.
It was Council’s decision to obtain more information about the potential league before moving forward, but that the idea holds many positive possibilities.
